Ideal for well construction
With ADLER well drilling rigs, you can drill your groundwater wells in the smallest of spaces. The well drilling rigs are compact and can be used for well construction as well as for geothermal drilling or geological exploratory drilling.
Water supply for your plants and a source of life for your garden:
Groundwater from your own groundwater well allows you to supply your garden with water and also make watercourses, water basins, fountains and small ponds a design feature of your own garden oasis. Even against the backdrop of climate change and the high cost of municipal water, it is worth investing in a self-sufficient supply of well water for watering your garden.
The advantages of ADLER well drilling equipment:
- Efficiency in the smallest of spaces: ADLER drilling rigs for well construction go deep even in small gardens.
- Compact through any door: The drill rig can be transported to the job site with a standard trailer and brought to the drilling site through any standard garden door.
- Powerful down to great depths: Boreholes up to 100 meters or even 150 meters deep can be drilled without great effort, even in confined spaces. This means that no matter how deep the groundwater table is, you can drill until you hit water.
You can benefit from all these advantages not only when drilling your groundwater well, but also when drilling for a heat pump or for subsoil exploration. ADLER drilling machines are manufactured in Germany to the highest quality standards and can be used for groundwater wells, deep wells up to 150 meters deep, geothermal energy, explosive ordnance detection or other exploratory drilling.

ADLER: The innovative solution for well construction and water extraction!
Anyone wishing to drill wells at great depths in hard-to-reach locations in small spaces and narrow gardens first had to ensure that the heavy equipment was transported to the site using conventional methods. Cranes were often used or the accesses had to be widened. For some, the dream of having their own well or even their own geothermal energy ended because it was simply too expensive to have a well drilling rig lifted over the house into the garden.
With the ADLER compact drilling rigs, these well drillings can now be realized without great effort.
The small dimensions and easy handling make it possible to create a groundwater well in almost any garden and use your own water for garden irrigation. The transport width of the well drill is 80 cm to 95 cm with a height of 195 cm. This means that all existing buildings with normal doors and passages can be accessed. The drilling rigs are equipped with crawler tracks as standard and can therefore even be used on uneven terrain.
Easy transportation, time saving and high reliability:
Easy transportation of the well drilling equipment with a simple trailer up to 3.5 t registration (up to B 50) or a truck (from B 50) saves you time and money. You only have short set-up times and can get started very quickly. The investment in a compact ADLER well drilling rig is low compared to its performance, long service life and many efficient application options. The high quality of the equipment and the cathodic dip coating with subsequent powder coating also ensure that you have hardly any maintenance costs. The drill rigs are corrosion-resistant and equipped as standard with a protective device in the area of the rotating rods, which ensures safe handling.
Which drilling methods are ADLER well drilling rigs suitable for?
Flush drilling
Flush drilling is easy to implement with the B series well drilling rigs! Depending on the ground conditions, water is enriched with flushing additives and pumped into a circuit. This allows drilling depths of 150 m with a diameter of up to 20 cm. Ideal for drilling wells even with a very low groundwater table.
Down-the-hole-hammer drilling
The down-the-hole-hammer method is an optimal solution for extremely hard substrates, such as rock, granite and other solid rock. Air is used to drill through the hard rock to the desired depth with the aid of powerful compressors and the corresponding down-the-hole hammers.
Hollow core auger method and dry drilling method
For the B series, ADLER offers you dry drilling equipment in which the drilling material is conveyed by means of a hollow core auger. In contrast to drilling mud, a hollow auger is used here, with which high-quality soil samples can be brought to the surface as a drill core. It can also be used to set up groundwater measuring points and create pile foundations.
Areas of application
Supply / service water wells
Supply wells are, for example, wells for domestic water supply, for the irrigation of gardens, but also for the supply of agricultural facilities, market gardens, forestry facilities, parks and sports grounds. If you want to use these wells purely as service water wells or industrial water wells, you should make sure that the water is not intended for human consumption. Anyone wishing to install their own service water system in their household in addition to the drinking water supply must notify the public health department in writing.
Groundwater measuring points
If you want to know exactly where groundwater potentials are located and how they change over a certain period of time, groundwater measuring points are set up. These can be used to measure pore water pressures in the subsurface and constantly monitor the quality of the groundwater.
Extinguishing water wells
If the groundwater level is not below 7.5 meters, a well can be used as an extinguishing water well for normal suction operation with a fire pump. If the level is lower, the maximum geodetic suction head is exceeded and a deep well must be installed. Such an extinguishing water well has a deep pump that transports the water up to the fire pump at the required pressure. This can then be operated without geodetic problems.
Irrigation wells / irrigation systems
An irrigation well is used to supply water for agriculture, fruit growing, crops and ornamental plants or horticultural areas. In times of climate change, the water requirements for spraying systems are particularly high and the use of a dedicated well helps to keep costs down.
Can you drill wells “just like that”?
You can’t do it without a permit: every well must be registered! If you intend to drill a well shaft for the purpose of obtaining service and drinking water, you must register and report this to your local authority, the city, the district office or the lower water authority for a fee. This also applies if you want to drill a simple well purely for garden irrigation – a so-called percussion or driven well.
In most cities, these wells are free of charge and drilling is generally permitted under Section 46 of the Federal Water Act (WHG). However, if the well drilling results in a lowering of the groundwater level or if the water quantity and pumping capacity of the neighbor’s well is reduced, this can lead to a neighbor dispute. To avoid trouble, the Verband Wohneigentum NRW e.V. recommends consulting with your immediate neighbors before drilling a well.
How deep should a well be?
As you have to drill down to the groundwater for your water supply, the required well depth depends on the depth of the groundwater table. For a private well, it can often be sufficient to drill a borehole between 6 meters and 10 meters deep. However, depending on the depth of the groundwater table in your garden, the required drilling depth can also be considerably greater: From a depth of around 8 meters, a well is referred to as a deep well.
If you want to know in advance what approximate depth you need to be prepared for, you can ask theregional water supplier (e.g. municipal utilities, water associations). Using hydrogeological maps, you can obtain relatively precise information about the groundwater level in your region. The environmental department and the water authorities at the city and municipal administrations can also provide information on the depth of the groundwater table.
Well water = drinking water?
We advise against using untested well water as drinking water, as the extracted groundwater may be contaminated with germs and pollutants: These include, for example, nitrates from agriculture or heavy metals that are present in the soil as contaminated sites (such as arsenic, uranium, cadmium or mercury).
As a well operator, you are responsible for the quality of the drinking water: this means that you must ensure that the well water meets the requirements of the Drinking Water Ordinance. Annual tests for microbiological contamination (germs) and other tests at regular intervals are required by law.
