The depth of the geothermal borehole for the heat probes depends on the heat requirement of the building and the ground conditions. As a rule of thumb, a newly built detached house can be assumed to be approx. 70 m deep. In exceptional cases, it may also be necessary to drill to a depth of 100 m. Where drilling at these depths is not possible because the ground is too hard or rocky, two or more boreholes can be drilled at a shallower depth.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can calculate the drilling depth you should use for the utilization of geothermal energy with the help of the &#8220;extraction capacity&#8221;. In ideal ground conditions, this extraction capacity &#8211; i.e. the amount of energy that the geothermal probe can extract from the ground &#8211; is around 50 watts per meter. If the total heating load of the building is approx. 4,000 watts, the calculation is as follows: 4,000 \/ 50 = 80. The drilling depth for the geothermal borehole is therefore 80 meters.
